At Q2 Dev Days 2026 in Austin, Texas, more than 100 developers and engineers got an early look at five innovations designed to help banks and credit unions ship software faster, connect their systems in real time, and put AI to work for employees and account holders.
The previews included Software Factory, an extension of Q2 Code for moving features from idea to production in days instead of weeks; Back Office MCP for completing digital banking admin tasks in AI tools like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot; External Events API for sending real-time events into Q2 without a custom integration; Digital Banking MCP for conversational banking through AI assistants; and the Agentic Back Office concept for handing routine operations work to supervised AI agents.

Everyday financial pressures are reshaping what account holders expect from their FI, and increasingly, FIs are the ones expected to help them navigate it. That means giving account holders the tools and guidance to make informed decisions about their money. In this episode, we'll show what that looks like in practice, from proven partner results delivering impact today to an early preview of how AI will take it even further.
In this episode, we’ll cover:
Phil Marion has read a lot of RFPs. As the leader of Q2’s proposal team, he and his group review, interpret, and respond to about 10,000 RFP questions every month, giving him a rare view into what financial institutions ask and what actually helps them decide.
On the latest episode of The Purposeful Banker podcast, Phil shares why endless checklists erode confidence instead of building it. He also offers tips for getting better proposals from vendors, such as defining what makes your financial institution unique, stating your needs in plain language, and adding specifics to your questions.
Account takeover rarely happens in a single moment. It unfolds across an entire digital banking session, a settings change here, a new payee there, a transfer timed just right. A new Q2 Fraud Intelligence Report, built on anonymized data from nearly 200 banks and credit unions, sorts that pattern into six signal categories, with credential phishing topping the list at 55.2% of all signals detected.
On the latest episode of The Purposeful Banker, report authors Daniel Wagner and Angelica Gascon join host Jim Young to unpack the findings, including why mule account fraud hits credit unions at roughly twice the rate of banks, and why some fraudsters wait nearly a year before removing a dollar.
On the latest episode of the Cut to Context podcast, Presidio CTO Rob Kim joins Q2 CTO Adam Blue to unpack a simple but important fact: Every time an AI agent runs, it starts over with no memory of what it did before. That means someone has to tell it, every time, what it’s allowed to do, see, and decide. Rob explains why AI making things up isn’t a glitch to fix. It’s simply how these tools work, so the real job is keeping them accountable rather than expecting them to become perfectly predictable.
They also cover a surprising wrinkle: Swapping one AI model for another can break a process that was working fine. The takeaway for banks and credit unions is that you don’t need a smarter AI to get more value. Today’s tools already hold decades of untapped potential if you set them up right.
Commercial loan pricing volume fell about 10% in August, the first meaningful pullback in months. The decline showed up across segments. With no sign that banks tightened their underwriting, it points more to softer borrower demand than to a change in lending behavior.

Account takeover rarely announces itself at login. Q2's first Fraud Intelligence Report analyzes anonymized signals from 199 financial institutions, revealing that 55.2% of signals involve credential phishing and showing how fraudsters wait, age accounts, and move after authentication.

ACH volume doesn’t slow down, and Nacha’s 2026 rules aren’t making it easier to monitor. Manual review can’t keep pace, and teams are feeling the strain. This recap shows how Q2 Centrix ACH Processing centralizes risk data into one view and how one institution is completing reviews 10 times faster.
At Q2 Dev Days 2026, Cut to Context host and Q2 CTO Adam Blue asked four financial institution leaders how they’re putting AI to work. Their answers were practical. Forbright Bank’s Matt Quale described AI agents that handle CCPA data requests and diagnose data problems, with people making the final call. Matthew March of West Coast Community Bank pointed to fraud prevention and internal efficiency. John Outwater of Citizens Business Bank framed AI for business customers as confidence, not convenience. And SouthEast Bank’s Tom Vermette advised taking the buzz out and starting with the business need.

As Q2 Innovation Studio celebrates five years, we’re spotlighting some of the partners behind its momentum.
PayRecs shows what embedded innovation looks like in practice. One of Innovation Studio’s earliest partners, PayRecs built its international payments capabilities on Q2 APIs, Q2 Marketplace, and prebuilt integrations, helping financial institutions bring global payments, incoming payments, and multicurrency accounts directly into digital banking.
For business customers, that means they can send, receive, and hold funds across currencies without leaving their banking relationship.
