Q2’s Accessibility Vision & Mission
Q2’s vision is to provide a best-in-class usable, accessible, and valuable experience to all users, including those with disabilities. As part of this vision, we are actively working to improve the accessibility of our products and features, striving toward a best-in-class experience for all our users. We aim to comply with the latest WCAG 2.1 level AA guidelines, to ensure we are working towards the highest industry-accepted standards globally. We are also working with recognized third-party accessibility vendors to evaluate our products and provide feedback for these efforts. We have continued adopting a ‘shift left’ approach and embedding accessibility throughout the agile software process, to meet our vision around accessibility and inclusivity.
Why Accessibility Matters
- Over a billion people are estimated to live with some form of disability, which can include blindness, deafness, and a variety of others. This corresponds to about 15 percent of the world's population.
- One in four U.S. adults—over 61 million Americans—have a disability that impacts major life activities.
- When financial services aren’t digitally accessible, freedom of choice in how users manage their personal finances is removed. When it comes to managing personal finances, research shows that 18% of households with a disability are unbanked. This compares to just 6% of those without a disability. 28% of unbanked households with a disability say that a lack of trust in banks is a reason why they choose to remain unbanked. Further, households with a disability are less likely to use digital banking and less than half access their accounts online, compared to 73% of those without disabilities according to the National Disability Institute.
- In September 2021, Text Help surveyed 15 national banks and 15 community banks for approximately 16,000 web pages and found that none of the banks meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards and on an average, each bank has 12 WCAG violations per page. If this continues freedom of choice is removed for disabled users to manage their personal finance.
Accessibility Conformance Reports
The Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) is a standardized form to document a product’s conformance against accessibility standards which was developed by the Information and Technology Council (ITI) and the Government Services Administration (GSA). Q2 uses the ITI VPAT WCAG template to create Accessibility Conformance Report for its various product lines. It is important to note that our products are complex enterprise level applications, where real world accessibility is achieved through correct configuration of Q2 products, third-party vendors and third-party components including operating system, browsers, assistive technology etc. Q2 is committed to help our customers, and their end-users, who are building accessible environments using our products.
