From Disconnected Tools to Connected Intelligence: Q2's Fraud Platform Vision

Fraud is already a serious threat to financial institutions. The problem gets worse when the tools fighting it aren't connected, when detection doesn't feed response and response doesn't feed learning.

Q2's vision for a connected fraud intelligence platform is designed to close that gap, linking detection, interception, resolution, and continuous learning into a single reinforcing system.

See how Q2 is building toward that vision and why it matters for your institution.

Serving SMBs and Commercial Clients Shouldn't Require a Tradeoff

Most platforms make financial institutions choose between optimizing for small businesses or building for commercial complexity. Q2's roadmap is built on a different premise. One platform that grows with every customer, from a quick-wire title company to a corporate treasury team running API-connected payments.

At CONNECT 26, we heard from Texas Capital Bank, Encore Bank, and Q2 product leaders on what that looks like in practice and where Q2 is investing next, including a first-of-its-kind stablecoin integration designed to keep commercial deposits right where they belong.

New Cut to Context Episodes

Build, Buy, or Partner?

This episode of the Cut to Context podcast takes on one of the most pressing questions in community banking right now: When it comes to AI, should your financial institution build, buy, or partner?

Q2’s CTO Adam Blue and Senior Director of Partner Engineering and Operations Abeer Thomson work through a practical framework for making that call. Build closer to the customer. Buy for infrastructure and compliance tooling. Partner when the innovation pace is too fast to specialize internally, or when the depth of capability you need simply isn't worth building from scratch.

The Boring Work Behind the Shiny Promise

Commercial banking is one of the most complex environments in financial services and one of the most promising for AI. A single commercial relationship generates roughly eight times the revenue of a retail one. But the systems underneath? Built over decades, never designed for AI, and still full of manual handoffs.

In this episode of Cut to Context, Q2’s CTO Adam Blue and VP of Product Management Anthony Ianniciello dig into where AI is genuinely making a difference: helping small business owners navigate payment complexity, giving financial institutions real observability into wire and ACH transactions, and streamlining treasury fulfillment workflows.

What AI Looks Like at a Community Bank

VeraBank didn't start with technology. They started with their worst processes.

Eighteen months ago, Chief Treasury and Digital Banking Officer Michael Purifoy and his team set out to map every workflow across the bank. They knew going in they'd find some broken ones. They did. What they also found was roughly two years of opportunity to put modern AI to work in places where it would genuinely matter.

In a special episode of Cut to Context, recorded at CONNECT 26, Purifoy joined Adam Blue to discuss what disciplined AI deployment looks like in practice: automating the work employees hate, building consistent answers into a knowledge base, and using the capacity AI creates to deepen customer relationships.

When "Block or Allow" Isn't Enough: A Smarter Approach to Account Takeover

The latest episode of The Purposeful Banker podcast tackles one of fraud teams' most persistent headaches: what to do when something feels off about a user, but there's not enough certainty to justify locking them out entirely.

Q2 Senior Product Owner Kristina Wingers explains why the traditional binary response to account takeover risk—block the customer or let them through—no longer fits the reality of modern fraud. Today's fraudsters are patient and deliberate, while legitimate customer behavior has grown harder to model. That combination leaves fraud teams stuck in a gray area.

Wingers introduces a third option: temporarily restricting what a user can do without cutting off access entirely. Restricted Entitlements Mode lets institutions reduce exposure and buy time to investigate without triggering a wave of angry support calls.
